Today, we’d like to introduce you to a little known band from the sleepy town of High Wycombe who’ve probably being keeping their neighbours awake while they’ve been working on the noisy number called ‘Cotch’. The five-piece Only Sun is currently working on a one-song-per-month project and their April release holds no punches. The cool, ambient introduction beckons to the listener from the night time atmosphere that the band sets; it’s all heavy-yet-steadily-paced drums, The xx-style guitars and boyish vocal harmonies. However, as you’ll sense, the intensity gradually increases throughout the track, until most of the instrumentation drops back. An autotune hum, a tapped symbol and slick bassline does not prepare the listener for the experience of hurtling through a well of unrelenting drums, violent guitars and a vocal scream until you hit a pool of pure rock energy. You know that if you went to an Only Sun gig, you’d leave drenched in sweat, probably whatever drink you were holding too, as you found yourself uncontrollable launching around the room in what some may call dancing.
